Sports, Workout, and Diet Information Session
A recent survey of parents revealed a desire for an informational session related to sports, working out, diet and supplements, etc. In response, there will be a session hosted by our own Mr. Sean Joseph on March 10 to discuss these issues and more. Please click here for information.
College Credit Plus (formerly PSEO) Reminder
If you are even considering your grades 7-12 student(s) taking classes at Lakeland or another institution as part of the CC+ program for the 2015-2016 school year, please note that the Intent Form is due this week. Since March 1st is a Sunday, Monday, March 2nd is the deadline to express your intent. Please contact your Guidance Counselor with any questions. If you do not complete the intent form, then your child will not be able to take CC+ courses in the coming year.
Congratulations to the 7th and 8th grade Power of the Pen teams!
Both teams proudly represented KMS at districts, which took place at Andrews Osborne Academy on Saturday, January 24th. Eighth graders Alex Hauptman and Brandi Martz placed 4th and 14th respectively while seventh graders Lauren Lee won 8th place and Alessandra Sverko took 15th. Additionally, the 8th grade team secured 2nd place overall, marking the first time a KMS Power of the Pen grade level team has placed in the top four! Way to go KMS creative writers!
Social Media Awareness and Safety

7th to 8th Grade Transition presentation
KMS will be hosting a 7th to 8th grade transition presentation on Wednesday, February 4th at 6:30 in the KMS gym. Parents and students are invited to attend. Scheduling forms with specific course recommendations will be distributed. Important curriculum information will also be discussed.
KMS/KHS Delayed Start Wednesday Information
As communicated at the December 8th Straight A Fund Grant presentation, students in grades 6-12 will have the option of coming to school on a 1 hour delay every Wednesday, beginning January 7th, 2015. During this time, teachers will report at usual times to participate in Professional Development in preparation for grant implementation. New Immunization Requirements to Enter Grade 7
Ohio Department of Health has made new immunization requirements for school attendance starting in the fall. New booster requirement: 1 dose of Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis) or Td (tetanus and diphtheria) vaccine must be administered prior to entering 7th grade. Tdap is preferred because it provides vital protection against pertussis, also known as whooping cough. If your student has had a tetanus shot in the last 5 yrs that will meet the requirement. Please provide proof of vaccine.
